LMS UKAS Applicant REG: 22418
UKAS LABS CAN NO LONGER TEST PCR SAMPLES WITHOUT THE ACTUAL CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE PERSON BEING TESTED
From 01/Jan/2000 All Covid Testing Services, including Rapid & Home Tests, are regulated by PHE who require UKAS registration. Any PCR test booked where incorrect contact information is supplied is invalid (i.e. same phone number or email for more than one test or wrong date of birth) cannot now be processed by the lab (or they will loose UKAS accreditation), you will still be changed and will have to re-book.
It is a requirement to accurately provide NHS Test & Trace contact information for every PCR test conducted, irrespective of the result. This includes actual name, date of birth, email address and phone number of the person being tested. This information must be supplied at the time of Test Booking, We validate this information with the person being tested automatically and thus, given this is a wholly automated process, the direct contact details need to be accurate.
When booking using your production password, your results email will automatically be added to the booking, thus please ensure the Phone Number & Email address entered on the booking form is that of the person being tested and not a production contact. If you use the credit card booing form, there is a ‘Copy Results to’ field if you have permission from the person being tested to see their results.
RT-PCR TEST TURNAROUND TIMES
We have contracts for laboratory capacity, as some of you have noticed, our turn around times can be very quick on occasion. Some productions are starting to ‘expect’ results next day. If a large batch arrives ahead of your samples, unless they are paid for urgent processing, they may well go onto the next mornings run, so please don’t count of next day results!
Our routine SLA remains 48Hrs from delivery to the LAB. This is due to the fact that some tests require re-testing & unless you use a dedicated courier, afternoon tests may not be sent till the next day.
For £299 plus a dedicated courier cost (£75 M-F) we can Express Test up to 5 samples, if we test before 1200 we can provide results before 0800 the next day.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have published the results of their last inspection of Location Medical Services - and we are pleased to announce that we have been rated as Good across all 5 key areas (Safety, Effectiveness, Care, Responsiveness & Leadership).
CQC registration for private medical and ambulance providers is the same statutory in-depth inspection process that NHS hospitals, ambulance services and GP practices are subject to across England.
Although the provision of medical service at events or on film sets is not, technically, a “regulated activity” in the eyes of the law (meaning that some operators working solely in these areas can avoid inspections if they wish to) it is, a legal requirement for any organisation providing ambulance services (including to film sets & events - regardless of what some unregulated lead clients to believe ). CQC registration is also required for our NHS primary care work - so LMS is happy to subject our whole business to the same levels of scrutiny - and we work hard to maintain safety and high across all of our services .
CQC registration is the only recognised independent benchmark for the medical sector, and being able to demonstrate high standards across every aspect of areas such as recruitment background checks, staff training, leadership, clinical governance, infection control, medicines management, complaints handling, equipment testing, innovation, data security etc - means we can offer clients complete peace of mind that we are the safe, reputable and reliable medical provider that our 25 years of experience would suggest!
WIth many unregulated, unsafe and potentially dangerous medical operators prevalent in the Film, TV and Event industries (where customers are not always aware of the laws and benchmarks applicable to the sector), we urge customers across all sectors to look for, and check themselves (via the CQC website), providers’ CQC ratings before they expose their crew / customers or patients to poor healthcare and themselves to litigation.
Our full inspection report is available on the CQC website: https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-221074578
From Film Sets & Festivals…
to the NHS Front Line...
Location Medical Services Ltd has been well known for providing on-site professional medical services to the Film,TV & Event industries for over 25 years. Since the coronavirus outbreak, however, all this work is suspended and we are now supporting the NHS.
Location Medical is currently deploying 12 mobile medical response units every day for the NHS - into 3 clinical commissioning groups to provide both Covid & Non-Covid patient assessment services on behalf of 50 GP practices - covering around 1/3 of a million registered patients across West London & Surrey.
Staff preparing to leave LMS Base at Shepperton Studios to visit patients.
Clinicians, who are normally on the sets of productions like 1917, Killing Eve & The Crown have now been re-trained and re-deployed as a Covid Response Team supporting GPs and primary Care Services across West London and North West Surrey. Staff were asked to volunteer, with many choosing to put themselves in the front line – rather than being furloughed in safety. Unfortunately, LMS has already had 2 paramedics contract Covid 19 – but, thankfully, both have made full recoveries and have chosen to return to the front line.
Daniel Melhuish, Managing Director of Location Medical Services, (based at Shepperton Film Studios) says: “Alongside our Film, TV and event work, we started providing primary care paramedics as a small trial in 2 GP networks in 2018. These trials had already proved that paramedics could be safely and effectively deployed to visit patients on behalf of GP’s – taking pressure off over-stretched family doctors. Through this work, as Covid hit the UK and patient numbers dramatically increased, we started to get enquiries from NHS commissioners and Primary Care Networks, looking for enhanced community support. We contacted all our medical staff (many of whom spend their lives on event sites and film sets) to see what help might be out there.
We were genuinely humbled and amazed by the number of our staff who offered to be redeployed to the “front line”. They all had the option to "ride out the storm" - but they attended hastily assembled training courses and prepared to join the front line in the fight against this pandemic. Amazing people.
Medical Staff being re-trained for Covid Response in the Korda Theatre
Huge thanks to The Pinewood Group for lending us a preview theater at Shepperton Studios, without a moment’s hesitation, to allow training to be delivered in a "socially distanced" manner. And for working with us to be able to expand our operations from Shepperton Studios for the duration of this crisis.
This is not a situation any of us would wish for - but I am in awe of the speed with which our Clinical Leadership team managed to scale up our primary care operations in response, and ahead of the peak demand - and that our medics are out there making a real difference supporting GP's and NHS colleagues.”
LMS has worked with the British Red Cross providing Health Care Professionals and Ambulance support to their Event First Aid teams for many years.
It comes as a shock to learn that the British Red Cross will no longer provide any first aid cover or event medical support as of 31st December 2019, with the unit formally closing down in March 2020, as per the statement by the Red Cross CEO below. We are working with Red Cross volunteers & Ambulance Crews to understand if we can find any roles within LMS, although historically we have not employed first-aiders, we appreciate many of the Red Cross volunteer had extended training. Red Cross Team Members can apply to join LMS Here
We are also working with, and happy to hear from, any event organisers who have been left without medical cover for their events in 2020 especially as the other voluntary, aid society St John Ambulance, are often at capacity over the summer in the South East and call on our services regularly to help cover their events. We understand our pricing model has not been significantly different from the Red Cross in many circumstances, even though we deploy professional staff.
Michael Adamson, chief executive of British Red Cross, said: “In recent years, we have seen increasing pressures on both our income and the demands for our assistance, which means we must prioritise how we use every pound donated to us.”
“Unfortunately, our event first aid work has been running at a financial loss for some time – the service still requires £1.8m of donations annually to cover the shortfall between income and costs – and this is diverting vital funds from our efforts to provide emergency support for major domestic and global crises.”
“So it is with real sadness that we have taken the very difficult decision to close our event first aid service by 31 March, 2020.”

Location Medical Services are pleased to be back at the London Stadium Supporting the IAAF World Athletics Championships. We are, again, the official ambulance & paramedic provider for the athletes and "athlete family" - working alongside the doctors and physios on site.
Location Medical Services Ltd is the official provider of ambulance and paramedic services for the London 2017 World Para Athletics Championships in the London Stadium.
Our teams are working alongside the volunteer doctors, nurses, physios and other medical staff who provide the on site medical cover for the stadium, all the practice venues, the "Heros' Village" on the South Park Lawns and run polyclinics at the athletes' hotels throughout the event.
Many of the medical team last worked together during London 2012 and this years Athletics events have really rekindled the "Olympic" feel with the medical teams building on the unique major sporting events experience build up in 2012.
Location Medical Services are contracted to provide ambulances and crews based in the stadium and on South Park Lawns every day through the rehearsals and live games in July.
We have also been contracted to provide services at the IAAF World Championships in August.
Last night saw the launch of the new Jaguar E Pace at London's Excel Centre. As well as some spectacular car stunts and visual effects, the launch involved a World Record barrel roll by Stunt Driver Terry Grant.
Location Medical Services were there with paramedic cover throughout the show. We also arranged and coordinated the fire and rescue provision.
Last nights show was the result of not only a weeks rehearsal at the Excel but 3 months of planning and testing for the stunt at Santa Pod race Track in Bedfordshire. Location Medical Services were there throughout the whole planning and testing process and, after so much hard work by the team at Imagination Events and Jaguar Land Rover, its great that the event was a huge success...and Terry got his world record!
In the hours and days following the horrific Grenfell Tower fire in West London Location Medical Services rapidly deployed Doctors and Paramedic Practitioners to work with BBC Occupational Health and counselling teams in order to provide "round the clock" support for the army of BBC staff deployed to the scene and local newsrooms.
BBC Health & Safety management demonstrated an rapid and absolute commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of their staff throughout the operation - despite the long hours and early environmental hazards and distressing scenes encountered by their teams.
From the outset the BBC were also committed to ensuring that their team welfare had no impact on overstretched NHS resources in the area throughout the operation, so set up a walk-in medical facility in New Broadcasting House.
Its a pleasure to work with such a far-sighted organisation so clearly committed to the safety and welfare of their staff.
