Film & TV Medics - Regular Bank Roles- August 2020 Onward

Following the Covid 19 Shutdown (in which Location Medical Services was almost 100% redeployed to NHS services) large events still look some way off, and will not feature greatly in our workload or recruitment requirement for the remainder of 2020.

The film & TV industries have, however, bounced back rapidly and, now more than ever, are looking for professional medical staff to work on set - both in the traditional “unit medic” role and in new “covid supervisor” and swab testing roles.

Person Specification

Location Medical Services are looking for experienced, qualified medical staff with the great mix of both professional qualifications & experience and the friendly, outgoing, positive attitude that our clients associate with LMS team members.

Unlike event work, Film & TV work tends to be blocks of work from 3-4 days to weeks (or even months). Our clients love continuity and often request the same medic back for subsequent work. We are, therefore, at this time NOT looking to recruit staff already working full time in healthcare and looking for work on occasional “days off”.

We are, however, keen to speak to medical staff who are freelance, retired, part time or bank and who may normally have between 3 to 6 days a week available OR who may be able to undertake full time assignments of several weeks.

In terms of qualifications we normally look for:

  • IHCD Ambulance Technician (or equivalent)

  • RGN (With relevant A&E or Prehospital Experience)

  • HCPC registered Paramedic (although this is not, strictly, a paramedic role and is not paid at paramedic rates)

We may consider other verifiable qualifications - where supported by extensive clinical experience and excellent references etc.

Please note: All qualifications and experience will be verified. References will be requested and contacted for every candidate. DBS checks will be undertaken.

Full medical kit is supplied - however medics who have the right kit already will be in a position to deploy directly to jobs and will be in an ideal situation to take “last minute” or “one off days” work.

Job Specification

Film units medics are typically deployed to jobs on location (can be literally, anywhere, and can be different locations each day or week) or in Studios. Normal working hours are 10 -12 hours per day. You work as part of the film crew and are normally the only medic on set. All staff are trained in Covid Awareness. This includes our procedures for keeping you safe and how to do the medic role in the most appropriate manner - but also how to understand IPC issues, current guidance and industry guidelines to be able to advise productions on set and, possibly, undertake “covid supervisor roles”.

Work is varied and can range from very repetitive slow studio shoots to large stunts or action scenes on feature films. Days are long and can over run. We are often outdoors - come rain or shine. Work is often booked late or last minute - so we rely on medics keeping their availability up to date (on line) so we know who to contact as work is confirmed. We also rely on medics being flexible and responsive. Often 8am starts can turn to 6am starts overnight and clients can change locations, times or dates. We do however pay you if we cancel anything the day before!

Work is predominately London & South East and work is paid start to finish on site - so you can decide the areas you are willing to cover and how far you are willing to travel. You normal get well fed on site and there are opportunities to travel further afield or abroad - with travel, accommodation flights all paid for.

Location Medical Services is a reputable CQC registered company with 25 years reputation. We pay our staff and contractors on time every time and we don’t make you pay for uniforms or wait for clients to pay us! We maintain excellent clinical standards and are supported by a clinical team and medical director.

We pay min 8 hours for each shift. Pay rates are normally £15/h - with enhancements for nights, public holidays etc. We can pay bona-fide self employed staff by invoice - or pay on PAYE payroll.

Applications: Although we have an on line application portal which is operating as normal - if you feel you fit the criteria above and are available to work in the next few weeks please email us on recruitment@locationmedical.com with:
